About SACC

Engaging Citizens

The Schnitzelburg Area Community Council is proud to provide a platform for Schnitzelburg residents to connect and to act as a unified voice on behalf of their community. SACC holds neighborhood meetings, carries out capital projects, organizes community events, and acts as a liaison between residents and Louisville Metro Government. We plan, promote and host nearly 30 free events every year thanks to the support of our neighbors. Our traditions are deeply rooted and our future is ever-evolving.

We invite you to be a part of our community.
All are welcome.

Neighborhood Meetings

SACC holds 6 neighborhood meetings every year (February, April, June, August, October, November). Meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend. In addition to relevant speakers and neighborhood updates, neighborhood meetings give residents an opportunity to mingle.

Annual Events

World Championship Dainty Contest

The World Championship Dainty Contest is played on the last Monday in July. Crowds gather to see who can hit a wooden peg the furthest.

Dog Walk

Schnitzelburgers love their four-legged friends, so SACC brings our canine friends together once a year for a walk around the neighborhood. The dogs are given a blessing my a minister before emBARKing on their trek. Door prizes are awarded after their journey.

History Walks

Neighborhood historian Don Haag takes folks on a guided tour, giving walkers a glimpse into Schnitzelburg’s storied past. History walks happen every spring and fall.

Movie Night

SACC sets up an outdoor movie experience every fall at Dairy Del every year for a night of spooktacular family fun! Face painting and bounce houses start the event, while a creepy classic caps the evening. Enjoy cold treats under a warm blanket with your closest friends.

#1 Citizen Dinner

The #1 Citizen Dinner is a celebration of an individual who has dedicated part of their life to improving Schnitzelburg. The annual event occurs in early November.

Neighborhood Clean-Ups

Volunteers from Schnitzelburg come together every spring and fall to remove litter from our streets, contributing to a more pleasant environment we can all feel proud of.

2024 Highlights

Dainty Silent Disco

In 2024, we partnered with Louisville Silent Disco to host our first Dainty Silent Disco at Art Sanctuary. In keeping with the Dainty theme, we featured our special Daintini—a pickle juice martini! We were able to raise money to support our mission and educate folks on why Dainty means so much to our community.

Community Easter Egg Hunt

Last year, we welcomed our tiny neighbors to Emerson Park for a community Easter egg hunt. Volunteers from No Kill Louisville filled Emerson Park with eggs, and we welcomed dozens of kiddos for a fun and competitive event!

Neighborhood Cocoa Crawl

In December, we invited our neighbors to submit their festive homes to be featured at our Cocoa Crawl. SACC provided free hot chocolate with all the fixings and a list of participants for folks to follow on a self-guided tour of our community.
